A 1941 French chanson by Jean Casanova, Paul Durand and Rose Grosjean, made famous by Léo Marjane as Je suis seule ce soir — the emblematic song of the Occupation years, evoking the loneliness of those waiting for prisoners of war.
The sound — a slow, tender C major ballad, with a B7 and a borrowed F minor bringing a shadow of melancholy to the cadences.
