About
Princesse des étoiles is a composition by Raphaël Faÿs (born 1959), one of the major French guitarists of his generation, equally at home in gypsy jazz, flamenco and classical.
The sound - an A minor piece built on the i-iv-V cadence (Am, Dm6, E7), with a B7 setting up the E7 and a G7-C move that opens briefly into the bright relative major.
Practising it - anchor the A harmonic minor scale, then voice the E7 with its ♭9 pulling home to Am. Switch to C major thinking over the G7-C, and take the melody with a singing, unhurried touch.
