Your first session on Haute Gitanerie

HG is a free, interactive tool for gypsy jazz guitar. Pick a standard, play the chords, loop a passage, and build your vocabulary — lick by lick. Here's how to start.

  1. Pick a standard
Head to the Tunes tab and choose a tune — Minor Swing, Dark Eyes, Douce Ambiance, or any of the 19+ standards. Each grid is the reference guitarejazzmanouche.com chart, verbatim.
  2. Read the grid
The chord ribbon scrolls with the tune. Tap a chord to see its notes, its role (tonic, dominant, where it pulls), and the diminished ♭9 to blow over it.
  3. Loop a passage
Hit Loop, tap the start and end chords. The player repeats just that section — skip the intro, hammer the bridge. Your loop is saved per tune and lives in the share link.
  4. Drill the licks
Switch to the Licks lens to see the vocabulary that fits each chord. Drill them at your own tempo, with a metronome that climbs by reps. Test yourself to check.
  5. Follow a path
The Parcours (Learning Path) lets you mark tunes to-learn, learning, or known, build playlists, and get a "learn next" pick. Start small — one tune, one loop.
